Trees

I am painting a picture for a friend. I am painting some oaks at sunset.
I based it on a photo I took on my birthday.
Yesterday was so warm I worked outside....in January.

Tail light eyes
sometimes people say things they don't even know
maybe it isn't one word but several words mixed together
cut and paste
snip and cut
maybe the words never came out of their mouth but you know what they meant
maybe they never say what you want them too
so you make the dialogue complete on your own terms
in your own mind
home field advantage
i watch your lips but i don't hear a sound
i see your eyes speak and listen to every thing you ever told me
a warm heart on a cold winter day
a silver tongue lets go a flurry of nouns and verbs
all pass you by
leaves on the icy breeze
but what are you left with?
what lingers on?
i know what i wanted to hear
i know what you wanted to say
i am caught on a desert highway with tail lights reflecting on me
tail light eyes
i hear you
i watch you
i see it loud and clear
maybe it isn't one word but several words mixed together
cut and paste
snip and cut
maybe the words never came out of their mouth but you know what they meant
maybe they never say what you want them too
so you make the dialogue complete on your own terms

The Bachelor (and his iron)

Nothing makes you feel more like a bachelor than ironing a shirt.
First of all I do not like to iron.
It is a household tool I do not feel comfortable with.
Secondly all I can think of as I iron is how I wish someone could assist me with this task.
I need some help.
I think I would do better hammering or drilling a shirt, not using the iron.
Then I seriously wish I could wear a non wrinkle uniform all of the time.
Maybe like Star Trek guys or perhaps Gilligan.
Captain Kirk or maybe the Skipper.
Although I do really like the Professor's outfit.
Maybe a mix.
Something I could depend on and not have to worry about wrinkling.
A closet full of the same catchy get-up.
I do not smoke but I wish I did when I ironed.
I would wear a towel and house slippers and be drinking black coffee and smoking a half done cigarette.
Pushing and pulling the iron until I was convinced I had no business doing this.
Riding through space looking for coconuts and smelling like Marlboros.
Looking for a way out of this episode.
