Ankle and a brick
Yesterday I was starting my run and a small boy was trying to throw a brick at a dog. The boy missed. The dog is fine. My ankle is not.

You never know

I think it is funny how people say things. Sometimes people talk about the uncertainty of life. They say, "You never know...you could live till 100 or you might get run over by a Mack truck on the way home." I thought today that is weird. I have never heard of anyone talking about other freak accidents as a way to show how our time on Earth is fleeting...asteroids, angry drunk bees, old woman bank robbers, or Ebola virus. I am waiting for some to say..."You never know what will happen. You might fall into a pond and be eaten alive by a vicious school of Piranhas." I would like that.

Gourd Head Syndrome

Earmarks. Last hour. Odd jokes. Cold handshakes. Floor creaking. My desk. Large jaw bones. Wire rimmed glasses. Cash in my pocket. Good sense. Social security. Communism. Hair dye. Divided. United. Short statements. Bookmark applause. Particles of radioactive debris. Tax code. Sore knees. Swollen ankles. Loss of appetite. 100 miles. Technology. Always and forever. Transparent junky lawsuits. Coke head. Bio fuels. Grasses and wastes. Dung beetle powered cars. Generals on a bench. Crow bars. Sip of water. Lives and lies and black robes. Double talk. New speak. Icing on a cake.

Milk. Bread. Firewood.
Milk. Bread. Firewood.
Why do people crave these things at the hint of winter weather?
I haven't had a glass of milk in years.
I could stand outside in the freezing rain and I would not crave white loaf bread.
Most folks I know don't have a fireplace.
Maybe just knowing the wood could burn and produce heat makes them happy.
You would think people would line up to buy a blanket.
Maybe they should buy a pizza.
Or a strong cup of coffee.
Milk ? Bread ? Snow ?

Borrowed words
We don't need to escalate
War is not the answer, for only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today

Rats and Roaches
I always think I see roaches. Rats. Rats too. I think I see a roach and then I bend over to pick it up and it is a dark spot on the wood floor. I always think I see rats in the corner. Over in the corners of my peripheral vision. I turn my head and there is no rat. I wonder what this means?

Flowers by the park

I put some new art on my webpage.
Take a gander.

I ran 3 miles today.
It is so warm. I saw all kinds of flowers and plants blooming.
I feel lucky to have this warm weather.

Holy ^&%^$$#
Tonight I ran 4 miles. It was dark and cold. I was running when I saw a woman walking 2 dogs up ahead. I ran up beside her and as I passed I said,"Hi." She screamed and cussed and spoke of waste products. I told her I was sorry. I suppose I startled her. Then I ran away really fast into the night.

Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree, How lovely are thy branches. Yeah right. Look how people change. Every year. No doubt about it. Lets get all excited in November and spend hard earned cash on a real fresh smelling evergreen. Pluck it from the earth. Decorate it with homemade handicrafts and ornaments of love. Oh the tree. Oh the season of love and giving. Then as soon as new year day comes around watch out. The never ending love of the holiday season is quickly thrown out the window. Or maybe it is thrown to the curb. Just like the beloved sacred tree. Ride through any neighborhood and you will see tree after tree on the side of the road. Dead to the family that worshiped it so just a week before. So superficial. So one sided. So fickle. Oh the fickle love of the Americans and their overly commercial holiday season. I am sorry tree. Sorry for the way you are treated. Sorry you fell prey to the fakery and hypocritical Santa Claus and his Bloomingdale elves. So sorry.

Second chance

Second chance - Passing glance - Is this what it is supposed to be?
Hot blood in my arm - Pounding in my ears
It has been a long walk - A long road - A long face
Hands in our pockets - Weight on our souls - I need a breather
